Monson has received four honorary doctorate degrees, as well as the Boy Scouts of America’s Silver Buffalo and the World Organization of the Scout Movement’s Bronze Wolf—both awards the highest given in each organization. Monson is a member of the National Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America, the organization’s governing body.[3]

Monson was also a member of the National Executive Board of Boy Scouts of America starting in 1969. From 1971 to 1977 he served on the Utah State Board of Higher Education and the Utah State Board of Regents. From 1981 to 1982 he was a member of the Task Force on Private Sector Initiatives appointed by Ronald Reagan.



LDS Church President has received both the Silver Buffalo and Fox BSA Awards.

I was a BSA Scout Master @ The Carandis Unit, The WPB,FL LDS Stake & was a First Class Scout in my teens.
